Sacred path to "The Best Beautiful Home"

Zedang is known as the cradle of Tibetan culture. Long ago, local Tibetans travelled there to multiply and build homes. It is home to the first Tibetan palace, also known as the Yongbulakang Palace and has a history of over 2000 years. The ancient tomb of a Tibetan King and Yongchang Monastery are located there as well as where Songtsen Gampo and Princess Wencheng used to live. Sanye Monastery was first built in 779 AD and designed by Monk Jihu under the leadership of Thrisong Deutsen, the descendent of Songtsen Gampo. The site of the monastery was chosen by an Indian Monk called Master Lianhua. Today, the monastery maintains influence on Tibetan Buddhism and its architectural style. In Tibetan, Samye means “unimaginable.” Yongbulakang Palace, though previously destroyed, is still at the corner of majestic mountain. Today, visitors can still have a glimpse of its bygone magnificence.
