How should you plan a 6-day trip to Guangzhou? Six days are enough to explore Guangzhou, and you can also visit some surrounding areas. If you are unsure how to plan your trip, refer to the following four itineraries we have prepared for you: one for families with children, one for seniors, one for adventure-loving young people, and one for people who are interested in Cantonese culture.

6 Days Guangzhou Itinerary for Family with Kids

Day 1: Explore Guangzhou - History and Culture

Arrive in Guangzhou and check into your hotel. Visit the Canton Tower, an iconic landmark of Guangzhou, for a panoramic view of the city. Visit Guangdong Museum which integrates history, art, revolution, and nature, is the largest and most diverse museum in South China. Walk around the Huacheng Square and admire the beautiful fountains and light shows.

Day 2: Cultural Exploration in Yuexiu District

Take the Haizhu Tram Line 1 and enjoy a 7-kilometer scenic ride through some of the most beautiful parts of Guangzhou. Along the way, you can see Liede Bridge, Canton Fair Complex, Pazhou Bridge. After lunch, Explore the Chen Clan Academy Hall, a 19th-century academic temple that now houses a museum of folk arts and crafts. Visit Sacred Heart Cathedral, one of the largest cathedrals in China.

Finish your trip to explore the night markets for dinner and souvenirs.

Day 3: Learn Cantonese Cuisine and Explore Local Culture in Liwan District

Visit Yongqingfang, here you can visit the Cantonese Opera Art Museum and the movable type printing experience hall. Kids will love this experience.

Join a family-friendly Cantonese cooking class, you can learn to make traditional Cantonese dishes like dim sum, dumplings.

Day 4: Adventure and Theme Parks in Panyu District

Take the family to Chimelong Safari Park, one of the largest wildlife parks in China. Kids will love seeing pandas, tigers, and elephants up close. The park offers safari-style tours where you can observe animals in natural habitats.

Visit Chimelong Paradise which is Right next to the Safari Park, an exciting amusement park with roller coasters, water rides, and family-friendly attractions.

Day 5: Chimelong Water Park and Cultural Experiences in Panyu District

Head to Chimelong Water Park, it has many world-class recreational facilities, such as the three giants of Super Wave Pool, Hot Wave Valley, Rafting River Adventure and Wonderful Parent-Child Water City.

Explore Shangxiajiu Pedestrian Street, a bustling shopping street with traditional architecture and street food vendors.

Day 6: Experience the Lion Dance in Panyu District

Visit Shawan Ancient Town, a historic Lingnan cultural town with a history of over 800 years and experience the Lion Dance, join a class to learn the basic moves, including the lion's characteristic head movements, playful motions, and high jumps. You can even try on a lion dance costume.

Departure, check out of your hotel and take your flight back home.

6 Days Guangzhou Itinerary for Seniors with a Slow Travel Pace

Day 1: Arrival in Guangzhou

Arrive in Guangzhou in the morning, check into your hotel. Afternoon, visit the Canton Tower. Take the elevator up to the observation deck for panoramic views of the city. Stroll around Huacheng Square, watch the musical fountain and enjoy a leisurely dinner at a traditional Cantonese restaurant near the hotel.

Day 2: Historical Sites and Scenic Strolls

Enjoy a traditional Guangzhou morning tea for breakfast. Admire Chen Clan Ancestral Hall, which is a beautiful example of traditional Cantonese architecture. You can see intricate wood and ivory carvings, and learning about Cantonese culture.

For a slower-paced afternoon, you can visit Shangxiajiu Pedestrian Street, where you can enjoy the traditional Cantonese architecture, shop for souvenirs, or simply sit in one of the cafes and people-watch.

Day 2: Parks and Cultural Exploration

In the morning, visit Yuexiu Park, which is spacious and offers and offers a relaxing environment for a leisurely walk. You can see famous Five Rams Sculpture, which symbolizes the city and Zhenhai Tower in the Yuexiu Park. After lunch, visit Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, the building is surrounded by lovely gardens, and the history inside is easy to explore at a relaxed pace.

Day 4: Culture

Visit the Guangzhou Opera House. Explore the Museum of the Western Han Dynasty Mausoleum of the Nanyue King, which contains artifacts from the Western Han dynasty, In the evening, head to the Pearl River for a scenic night cruise, a scenic along the river and with views of the city skyline.

Day 5: Relaxed Exploration

Start your day with a visit to this beautiful Gothic-style church, Sacred Heart Cathedral is a peaceful place for reflection, and it doesn’t require much physical exertion. Visit Liurong Temple (Six Banyan Tree Temple), Which is one of oldest temples in Guangzhou.

Day 6: Ancient Town and Departure

Visit Xiaozhou Village, is an ancient village with distinct Lingnan water town characteristics, with its layout centered around the water system, which is its most notable feature. Visit the Taicang Ancient Wharf, view of the Chigang Tower, feel the sea breeze, and savor Guangzhou's delicious cuisine.

6 Days Guangzhou Itinerary for Young Adventurers

Day 1: Guangzhou – City Adventure

Start your adventure by visiting the Canton Tower, one of the tallest towers in China. Visit the Guangdong Museum which is a comprehensive museum showcasing the province's rich cultural heritage, including its history, art, and natural resources. Stroll around Huacheng Square, a modern and beautiful public space surrounded by striking architecture.

Day 2: Guangzhou – Nature and Exploration

Take a morning hike up Baiyun Mountain, for a panoramic view of the city in the top of the Mountain. Visit Yuexiu Park, home to the famous Five Rams Statue and a scenic spot for outdoor activities.

In the evening, Walk along the Pearl River Promenade, a scenic path along the river with views of the city skyline.

Day 3: History, Art, and Charming Streets

Experience the Cantonese food culture, try local Morning tea breakfast. And then, visit Liwan Lake and Liwan District. Head to Yongqing Fang, here you can visit the Cantonese Opera Art Museum and the movable type printing experience hall. Explore Shamian Island, a peaceful, historical area with colonial-era buildings and tree-lined streets.

Explore Shangxiajiu Pedestrian Street, where you can enjoy the traditional Cantonese architecture, shop for souvenirs, or simply sit in one of the cafes and people-watch.

Day 4:Bai Shui Zai

Take subway or car, about 2hours, arrive Zengcheng. Head to Bai Shui Zhai, explore the Baishui waterfall, hiking around mountain. Cycling in Bai Shui Zhai,the loop ride from Bai Shui Zhai to Bei Yin Village is about 20 kilometers in total. The road conditions are good, with most of the route being greenways and rural roads, offering a pleasant cycling experience. Back to Guangzhou.

Day 5: Experience the Lion Dance

Day 6: Nature, History, and Culture

Visit the International Exhibition Center which is the largest exhibition complex in the world. Explore the Haizhu National Wetland Park for natural and beautiful views.

Finish your day with a visit to Taikoo Hui shopping mall, is a top-tier luxury mall in Guangzhou. You can find a variety of luxury brands and local designers.

6 Days Guangzhou Itinerary for Culture

Day 1: Historical and Cultural Landmarks

Arrival in Guangzhou, after check in hotel, start your day by visit Chen Clan Ancestral Hall, a 19th-century academic temple that now houses a museum of folk arts and crafts. Have lunch in the local restaurant, head to Nan Yue Wang Museum (Southern Yue King Mausoleum Museum), which contains artifacts from the Western Han dynasty.

Cap off your day with a scenic night cruise along the Pearl River in the evening.

Day 2: Nature and Cultural Exploration

In the morning, starts with famous Cantonese dim sum for breakfast. Visit Lychee Bay, a picturesque area filled with traditional Cantonese houses, canals, and parks. Take a relaxing boat ride or stroll through the narrow lanes to experience Guangzhou’s old-world charm.

In the afternoon, head to Yuexiu Park, where you can visit the iconic Five Rams Sculpture and Zhenhai Tower.

Day 3: Architectural Gems and Shopping Streets

In the morning, visit Sacred Heart Cathedral, is a stunning Gothic-style stone church, famous for impressive architecture and stained-glass windows. Tips: The church is closed on Mondays and the third Sunday of every month.

Explore the Shamian Island. It’s an ideal place to relax and explore old European-style buildings, art galleries, and cafés. After lunch, visit Guangzhou's Big Buddha Temple and learn about Buddhist culture.

Next to the Big Buddha Temple is Beijing Road Pedestrian Street, where is one of most famous shopping streets in Guangzhou. Take a stroll along the Beijing Road Pedestrian Street for shopping and people-watching, try authentic Cantonese cuisine for dinner.

Day 4: Guangdong Museum and Cooking class

Visit the Guangdong Museum, to learn about the history and culture of the region.

Experience the Cantonese food culture, join a family-friendly Cantonese cooking class, you can learn to make traditional Cantonese dishes like dim sum, dumplings.

Day 5: Visit Ancient Town

Head to Shawan Ancient Town where is a historic Lingnan cultural town with a history of over 800 years. its well-preserved old houses, temples, oyster shell houses and streets. The town retains its local characteristics and folk customs, lion dance, you can also experience a Lion Dance class.

End your day with a stroll around Huacheng Square, as the 'city’s living room' and one of the best place to see the entire Canton Tower.

Day 6: Guangzhou-Kaiping

Head to Kaiping to visit the famous Diaolou, traditional fortified multi-story towers built by overseas Chinese immigrants. The Kaiping Diaolou and Villages are a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a great place to explore Hakka architecture. Bake to Guangzhou and departure.
