7 Days Ningxia Family Trip Itinerary with Kids
Day 1: Arrive in Yinchuan and Explore the City
Arrive in Yinchuan and check in to your hotel. In the late afternoon, head to Lanshan Park to enjoy a spectacular sunset overlooking the city.
In the evening, explore the lively atmosphere of Huaiyuan Night Market and sample local specialties such as hand-grabbed mutton, Lamb Saozi Noodles, and Eight Treasures Tea.
Day 2: Western Xia Culture and Interactive Learning

Day 5: Yinchuan to Zhongwei – Shapotou Desert Experience
Travel from Yinchuan to Zhongwei (approximately 2.5 hours by car). Upon arrival at Shapotou, spend the afternoon enjoying family-friendly desert activities. Children can play in the sand dunes, experience sand sliding, and take a traditional sheepskin raft ride along the Yellow River.
In the evening, experience desert camping and stargazing under the clear skies of the Tengger Desert, a memorable adventure for children.
Day 6: Full Day Desert Adventure
Continue to explore Shapotou with more exciting desert activities. Ride camels across the dunes, experience thrilling desert surfing vehicles, and enjoy panoramic views of the vast Tengger Desert. Families can also participate in interactive desert experiences and take memorable photos of the spectacular landscape before returning to Yinchuan (approximately 2.5 hours by car) for a relaxing evening.
Day 7: Wetland Cycling, Hands-on Activity and Departure
Enjoy a relaxing morning at Yuehai National Wetland Park or Mingcui Lake National Wetland Park. Families can cycle along lakeside trails, watch birds, and enjoy the peaceful wetland environment

7 Days Ningxia Itinerary for Seniors with Slow Travel Pace
Day 1: Arrive in Yinchuan and Explore the City
Arrive in Yinchuan, take time to settle in and rest. Visit the historic Yinchuan Drum Tower and stroll through nearby pedestrian streets.
Day 2: Western Xia Heritage and Helan Mountain Culture
Spend the morning at Western Xia Imperial Tombs (approx. 1 hour’ drive), one of Ningxia's most important historical sites. Explore the museum and archaeological remains while learning about the rise and fall of the Western Xia Kingdom.

Day 3: Yinchuan to Shizuishan
In the morning, visit Shahu Lake (approx. 1 hour’ drive), one of Ningxia's most beautiful scenic areas. Day 4: Yinchuan to Wuzhong
Travel to Wuzhong (approximately 2 hour by car from Yinchuan). In the morning, experience Wuzhong’s distinctive morning tea culture, a beloved local tradition that offers a relaxing way to start the day. Continue to the Qingtongxia Yellow River Grand Canyon (about 30 minutes by car from Wuzhong), where you can admire the magnificent scenery of the Yellow River. Visit the famous 108 Stupas overlooking the river and learn about the region’s rich history and cultural heritage.
Afterwards, return in to Yinchuan.
Day 6: Wine Culture and Islamic Heritage
Spend a leisurely morning visiting a Helan Mountain East Foothills winery (approx. 40 minutes’ drive). Enjoy a relaxed vineyard walk, cellar visit, and optional wine tasting.
In the afternoon, visit the Great Mosque of Yinchuan to learn about Hui Islamic traditions and architecture.
Day 7: Wetland Leisure and Departure
Before departure, enjoy a relaxing morning at Yuehai National Wetland Park. Take a gentle walk along the lakeside, enjoy the peaceful scenery, and watch local birdlife. 7 Days Ningxia Adventure Itinerary for Young Travelers
Day 1: Explore Yinchuan City
Arrive in Yinchuan, check in to your hotel, and take a short rest. Visit the Drum Tower and stroll along Gulou South Street, where historic alleyways, local shops, and mosques reflect Yinchuan's unique blend of Han, Hui, and Silk Road cultures.

Drive approximately 3.5 hours to Liupan Mountain National Forest Park. In the afternoon, hike through the Laolongtan Gorge Scenic Area, known for its crystal-clear streams, cascading waterfalls, and well-preserved forests.
Enjoy the refreshing mountain climate and beautiful natural scenery, offering a complete contrast to the desert landscapes of the previous day.
Day 6: Red Army Trail and Huoshizhai Geopark
In the morning, hike a section of the historic Red Army Trail in the Liupan Mountains and learn about the area's important role in China's revolutionary history.
Later, travel to Huoshizhai National Geopark (approximately 2 hours). Follow the scenic circular trail of about 7 km, passing dramatic red sandstone peaks, narrow valleys, and cliffside boardwalks. The striking Danxia landforms make this one of Ningxia's most impressive hiking destinations. Stay overnight in Guyuan.
Day 7: Return to Yinchuan and Departure
Return to Yinchuan (approximately 3 to 4 hours by car). If time permits, visit Zhenbeipu Western Film Studio.
Afterwards, transfer to the airport or railway station and conclude your adventure through Ningxia.

Day 1: Discover Historical in Yinchuan
